Fascinating read. This book is on my next to read list.
Nice to see Catholicism catch up to the 19th century. Still waiting on the evangelicals.
I think if the guy wants to burn Qurans, then he has a Constitutional right to do so. I personally do not agree with these sorts of actions, but I also recognize that it is not popular speech that needs protecting.
The guy is obviously deranged. But to say that he can’t have his 1st amendment rights because of what some other nut might do in response is misguided at best.
Posted because I think Jesus was one of the greatest social reformers the world has ever known. His religion is the sort that topples governments. But with the 1st Council of Nicea it all went bad. Christianity became a religion about Jesus as opposed to the religion of Jesus. With the conversion of Constantine, Christianity became a tool of the state to control the populace, as opposed to the revolutionary upending of society that Jesus had begun.
Short post I wrote about fundamentalism.
Nice analysis of the Fox news video I posted a couple days ago of an interview of Reza Aslan.
