They are hard to give up because they are artificially cheap, fueled and subsidized by venture (vulture?) capital.

In a few years, after destroying public transportation, prices will increase to whatever the likes of Uber and Lyft desire as there will be no other option. This is a scheme as large and diabolical as Goodyear/GM buying and shutting down the light rail systems of the past. Our government officials, sworn to uphold the law, are complicit.
