Open Source Strategy in the European Commission – DIGIT.

Every copy of Microsoft Windows or Office bought by government is money that is not available for roads, bridges, and drinking water. Of course enlightened institutions are moving to open source software. More importantly, however, governmental institutions need to move to open data formats. Locking public data in closed and proprietary formats with short life spans really needs to be criminalized.
