St Scholastica Day riot

St Scholastica Day riot – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

This is a great story from the “you can’t make this stuff up” category.

TL/DR: In 1355 students from U of Oxford battled local townsfolk for 2 days over the quality of drinks at the local tavern, 93 people were killed. Even though the locals won the battle, they had to pay a yearly fine to the U for 470 years.
